Scavenger
A downloadable game for Windows, macOS, Linux, and Android
Leroux is a supersized dystopian city where all your wildest dreams and nightmares can be made real. That being said: this story, unlike my other games, is a bit darker. Scavenger tells the tale of what happens to individuals who find themselves too deeply entrenched in the muck and mire that Leroux offers. It is sexual, it is violent, it is aggressive and grimy. I hope you enjoy.
Scavenger is a story about excess and fulfillment, set in a bleak future where sex and violence run rampant. It features scenes of violence, sexual violence, and graphic depictions of gore, and is not suitable for persons under the age of 18.

Man I loved reading this but I really wish
we had the chance to kill Sawyer at the end fuck him so much, that bastard.Would have made the ending a lot sweeter knowing he's burning in hell for all the people he's killed. Also, lax security at RED 79 for something like that to happen, you'd think that place would at least have armed backup for being what it is with the whole "threat of neutralization" in Chapter 1. But I guess it's supposed to represent the fragility of life, even in the broken slums hidden away from the world. But at least Crom found the most important thing: people who care about him.
Well, and i can't stress it enough, damn. What rollercoaster of the plot, in a good sense. Not to mention how impressive the amount of story told in just five chapters. Great art, in both characters and full images. And of course, wonderful choice of music that helps with conveying the mood of a scene(Specially "ResuRection", i used to listen to it so long ago, it was like a hammer to the head to hear it again).
I think the only flaws were lines weren't always assigned correctly and the name of the Doberman guy (like the other guy in the comments have pointed out). But i think that's about it.
Don't think i could've encountered this VN at a more fitting time, with the whole mood of making the best with what you have and people who care about you even with all the shitty world all around.
Not a VN i will forget any time soon.
Well, that was certainly a unique experience. But i liked it.
Btw, dobermans name doesnt make sense, his name means chemical property, not a phisical or unliving property. So his name should be like Sobstvennost.
I noticed a bug also: sometimes dialogue confuses the guy whos talking (For example Brody saying Crom words and vice versa)
Did not expect a happy ending but maybe that's just what this story needed
Very Enjoyable! The story kept me hooked the whole way through, The characters were written in depth and with soul to them and it had a good balance of harsh reality and optimism. Loved the ending made me a bit emotional mainly because the characters were lovable. 10/10
I enjoyed it a lot :
I just finished reading the VN yesterday, and I really enjoyed it! It has a perfect balance between grim reality and a more hopeful look on what it means to have a purpose and to feel deserving of good things. The feeling of having your life stuck in a unsatifying loop is no stranger to me, so the games' message deeply resonated with me. The entire setting is incredibly dark, but it makes the (albeit scarce) sweet moments much more impactful. Still, the story is permeated with the constant feeling of being on edge, like everything can fall apart in a second, and it got me at the edge of my seat throughout the story. The art and design of the characters further enfasize the dirty aesthetic of the entire city, but I ended up loving this bunch of weird, smelly, grimy critters. Someone on a Discord server mentioned this VN, so I'm glad I gave it the chance it deserves; the chapters just flew by. I look forward to your next project! <3
How explicit is the sexual aspects of this game? Is there nudity? I ask to gauge how live streamer friendly it is for a blind playthrough. Twitch and YouTube are usually ok with fictional violence and gore as long as it's flag properly vs sexual explicit material.
Incredibly explicit. The sexual parts are uncensored and there's sexual scenes in basically every chapter, so this very likely won't be suitable for streaming.
Good to know, thank you!
yeah, you could stream it on picarto i reckon but YT and twitch unfortunately not. it's very NSFW! tho i know some other folks post liveplays of NSFW games on youtube so idk what their policy is on that
update: fixed that for you! there's an option to make it streaming safe now
Thank you! It's a good feature to have for those who like to stream things. Most Furry VN readers on YouTube usually read them pre-recorded and edit/censor things to keep it within ToS. However, a feature like this makes editing much easier.
Looks like the dev literally just released an update to fix this for you.
wowzers, this was quite the vn to binge last night.
Honestly kinda surprised at how cleanly things just resolved.
I was half-expecting another death and POV shift, but I guess Crom's got the power of friendship actually.
Depraved, but absolutely well written and enjoyable - a shame how currently niche this vn is (despite its extreme nsfw-ness). The mystery aspects are very, very enticing and I am definitely invested in this story.
Thank you! The final chapter is posted, so I hope you enjoy!
Just finished reading, and I loved it. The setting of Leroux is very good, it's not often you see drug addled, fucked up dystopias in fvns but it works really well. Without mentioning any spoilers, the ending really struck a chord with me emotionally. Also, the art is wonderful, the style really working with the overall tone. Definitely got a high rating from me, and I hope more people stumble upon this vn in time as long as they can handle it.
im on the pc app for itch.io and for whatever reason it just wont let me download this game says its not compatable but obvi u have a windows version and i had space for it :( ive also seen this happen a few other times before and idk how to fix it
i'm not sure how to fix that, i dont know anything about downloading it through the apps :(
its meant to work the same way as it does off the itch.io website but the itch.io pc app also has a screen where it checks to see if any of the downloads are compatable with the device you have it might just be a labeling issue or an app bug cuz i downloaded your game off the cite and put it with the rest of my games even tho i cant use it with the app sense its not recognizing it but i did play your game and despite feeling a bit sick from the detailed gore i loved it :3
btw tromp is such a nice guy :3
Love the writing, love how ballsy the first chapter was, love the crack fic vibes. The dialogue is very natural and ya got a great choice in sound design and the visuals/sprites are very cute too.
My one big complaint is the itch page. I'd rather have a comprehensive list of trigger warnings to expect throughout the whole VN instead of chapter summaries, so that the narrative can surprise me rather than advertising "chpt2 won't have x or y", which can take away some of the suspense.
I'm also curious what genres will this cover? Namely if it'll have romance as a plot or subplot, and if so, will there be routes or will it be kinetic? Will it be m/m? mono or poly? I get some of this might be spoilers but usually that kinda stuff's advertised from the start. Alsoooo I can't find the patreon link!
sorry for delay in answering! thank you for this! The first chapter does feel like it really comes out swinging. i'm happy it didn't scare you or anyone else off x3 i was worried i went a little too hard.
I think that's a very good point about the warnings on the itch page tho! i need to fix that, don't wanna give too much away.
Also I will say...next chapter is actually the final planned chapter for this game before I move to my other larger visual novel project, Lavender County, which is a gay southern furry dating sim! I'm not hanging Scavenger up forever, i dont think? but it's kinda my introductory attempt at working on visual novels so i hope it doesn't disappoint that i dont have much planned left for this! but there will be a little bit of romance in it~ as well as possibly more horror!
Personally I loved how absolutely wild the first chapter was, it set a tone that I don't think I'd seen before in many, if any fvns.
Very interested in seeing where this goes. My one piece of constructive criticism would be that the transition between POVs is very abrupt and disorienting.
good to know, thank you! :3
That's interesting. You're the only person so far that's reported having that problem. Did it ever fix itself up or is your still freezing there?
